Investigations Division:

Our Investigations Division is responsible for further investigation of felony cases reported by victims in Newton County. Cases may include burglary, felony theft, vehicle tampering, crimes against children, financial crimes, felony assault, etc.

The Investigation Division consists of 8 detectives, each assigned to investigate particular types of cases. Click on their name to send an e-mail.

Our agency also employs a Victim's Services Advocate who provides resources and services to victims of crime.

Questions regarding Evidence:

Inquiries related to retrieving seized property/evidence can be made
Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4:00PM:

​Call 417-451-8300 and request to speak with Evidence.
To expedite this process, have your case number available.

RETREIVING EVIDENCE:

If you are needing to retrieve an item seized by the Newton County Sheriff's Office,
you must first make an appointment with the Evidence Officer prior to the release of any property.

Victim Advocate/Victim Services:

Victim advocates are professionals trained to support victims of crime. Advocates offer victims information, emotional support, and help finding resources and filling out paperwork. Sometimes, advocates go to court with victims. Advocates may also contact organizations, such as criminal justice or social service agencies, to get help or information for victims.

  • Providing information on victims' legal rights and protections
  • Providing information on the criminal justice process
  • Providing emotional support to victims
  • Helping victims with safety planning
  • Helping victims with victim compensation applications
  • Notifying victims of inmates' release or escape
