Patrol Division:
Newton County's Patrol Division is comprised of four teams consisting of a patrol sergeant and four patrol deputies. Each team works 12-hour shifts which allows 24-hour coverage for our citizens, including all holidays. Patrol deputies' duties consist of patrolling an area of the county, responding to calls for service, enforcing Missouri's traffic laws, investigating incidents and taking reports, and assisting other agencies as needed. Newton County deputies patrol approximately 600 square miles of unincorporated area as well as towns and villages that do not have police services. Typically, we do not respond to calls inside municipalities which have police services however, we do routinely assist these agencies.
The county is divided into two zones in which deputies patrol and respond to calls, North and South. The dividing line between the zones is Iris Road from State Line Road to Old Scenic Drive and Foliage Road from Lime Kiln Drive to Lawrence Road (Lawrence County Line).
The Patrol Division also employs two School Resource Officers, one for the Diamond School District and one for the East Newton School District.
The Patrol Division is supervised by Captain Mike Barnett.
